Silagra
What is Silagra?
Silagra is an oral agent administered in individuals with diagnostically confirmed erectile dysfunction (ED). The term erectile dysfunction (ED) replaced that of impotence, which was considered too pejorative and too vague in 1993. Erectile dysfunction is defined by the inability to have or maintain an erection sufficient to have satisfactory sexual intercourse for at least three months. The causes of ED are numerous, but organic causes and psychogenic causes are distinguished.
Silagra is not a libido enhancer, nor is it a drug reversing the condition of ED permanently; taken as needed, it helps achieve erections of sufficient hardness for engaging in sexual activity and carrying out a full sexual intercourse.
Silagra is a full analog of Viagra produced generically using the same active ingredient as the famous blue pill. The drug is produced in India by a pharmaceutical company accredited for its manufacturing Cipla Ltd, and has several patient-years of effective and safe use under its belt.
Mechanism of action
Erection is a complex phenomenon involving pelvic and penile vasculo-tissue mechanisms under neuropsychic control (central and peripheral nervous system) and modulated by sex steroids. These different mechanisms intervene in cascade.
The penis contains two cavernous bodies, consisting of sinusoidal spaces, or caverns, which fill with blood during erection, and a spongy body, crossed by the urethra, which terminates in the glans.
In the flaccid (soft) state, the smooth muscle cells of the walls of the penile arteries and sinusoidal septa are contracted, the arterial supply is low, and the sinusoids remain empty. Veins provide normal venous return. During the erection occurs relaxation of smooth muscle cells responsible for arterial vasodilation which increases the filling of sinusoids. The influx of arterial blood into these caves, by dilating them, blocks the venous return, which causes the swelling of the penis, reinforces its rigidity and its recovery.
Increasing the intracavernous pressure will compress the cavernous arteries until a steady state of erection is achieved. After ejaculation, the smooth muscle cells are contracted and the decrease in arterial return associated with increased venous return explains the return to the state of rest. The relaxation of muscle fibers is controlled by sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve fibers by neuromediators. Acetylcholine promotes their relaxation by stimulating endothelial cells that will release nitric oxide (NO). Norepinephrine promotes their contraction, opposing erection, hence the negative effect of stress on erection because adrenaline is the hormone of stress, fear, which explains the breakdowns related to anxiety.
Sildenafil contained in Silagra acts on the level of enzymes, releasing NO and preventing cGMP breakdown by PDE5. This allows for smooth muscles in the penis relax, and gives elasticity to the vascular walls, promoting uninhibited blood circulation in the corpora cavernosa. Thus a hard and durable erection is achieved, mimicking the natural mechanism.
Recommendations for use
Silagra acts by potentiating the action of nitric oxide (NO). It is only effective on ED without loss of libido and require sexual stimulation. A cardiac assessment should be performed to eliminate contraindications (severe cardiovascular disease, taking nitrates (risk of cardiac arrest) and retinitis pigmentosa). Parallel inhalation of poppers or amyl nitrite is prohibited as it is a nitrate derivative.
Sildenafil dosage
Silagra should be taken one hour before intercourse. Its efficiency rate is estimated at mean of 80.1%. Adverse effects include headache, dizziness, facial flushing, discomfort in color perception, stuffy nose, upset stomach. There are 3 dosages (25, 50, 100 mg). The recommended starting dose is 50 mg and is adjusted for results and tolerability. For patients taking Norvir as a booster or Kaletra, starting with 25 mg is recommended as Norvir increases the level of Silagra in the blood.
Sildenafil effects
The health benefits of Silagra include:
- restored erectile ability
- control over erectile hardness
- improved response to sexual stimulation
- boost in sexual stamina
- shortened rehabilitation periods between sexual acts
- alleviated performance anxiety
- sensitized penile tissues, more pleasurable intercourse
- brighter orgasms
At the same time, sildenafil is not an aphrodisiac, and it does not affect the taker’s libido. The drug only restores natural mechanism of erection and improves endurance characteristics.
Side effects
Silagra may interfere with the blood supply to the optic nerve found in the eye, compromising vision for a brief period of time. This has occurred in a small number of people taking Silagra or other drugs similar to sildenafil. Most of these patients also had some pre-existing eye problems or risk factors for blood vessel disorders (such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, coronary heart disease, smoking, or be over 50). Scientists can not yet clearly confirm whether Silagra is the real cause of vision loss.
Sildenafil should not harm a fetus. If you or your partner is pregnant or planning to become pregnant, talk to your doctor. It is not known if sildenafil passes into breast milk or could harm the baby. So tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding a baby. In any case, be aware that Viagra is reserved for men over 18 years and has not been developed for use by female patients.
The most commonly reported side effects of Silagra 100mg tablets are:
- headache
- redness of the face
- nausea
- dyspepsia
- back pain
- myalgia.
Precautions
Consuming alcohol with this medicine may cause side effects. It is therefore best to avoid taking a sildenafil tablet if you are going to drink a lot of alcohol. Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may interact with sildenafil and lead to unwanted side effects. Avoid the consumption of grapefruit products while taking a Silagra tablet. Finally, never combine Silagra with any other drug for ED, natural or pharaceutical, without first talking to your doctor.
Contraindications
To make sure Viagra is safe for your condition, tell your doctor if any of these conditions occur:
Heart disease or heart rhythm problems, coronary heart disease; recent heart attack (within the last 90 days) a recent history (within the last 6 months) of a stroke or congestive heart failure; angina pectoris (chest pain), high or low blood pressure; kidney or liver disease (or if you are on dialysis); a disorder such as sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, leukemia; a bleeding disorder such as hemophilia; an ulcer of the stomach; retinitis pigmentosa (a hereditary disease of the eye); physical deformity of the penis (such as Peyronie’s disease) or if you have already been told that you should not have sex for health reasons.

Generic sildenafil vs brand
As of recently, the exclusive patent of the original sildenafil developer the US based company Pfizer, expired, creating multiple opportunities for other pharmaceutical company to make their contribution to the choice of drugs featuring the same formula – but none of its extravagant price.
Generic sildenafil is approved for manufacturing in Europe, Canada and other countries outside of the US. The off-patent drugs are available for purchase both at bit pharmacy chains and online drugstores.
The prices for generics sildenafil pills differ between themselves, even though not quite as much as they differ from the brand Viagra pill, the price for which almost reaches whooping $74 per unit (information taken from Drugs.com). On the less expensive end, we find generic Viagra pills manufactured in India; on the higher… generic Viagra pills manufactured by brand Viagra developer! Seems like there is no way around large pharmaceutical companies trying to make some more money.
Is it safe to buy cheaper Indian generic Viagra? One should understand that once a company with a well-established name that has been around for decades is accredited for the production of a certain drug in the country of its origin, it has already undergone a thorough check by local healthcare authorities. This makes every generic sildenafil pill produced by a pharmaceutical manufacturer with a universally recognized name a safe alternative to a much more costly brand drug. For comparison, a pack of Silagra (4 pills) retails at $1.32.
